- HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR LATEX -

Putting On Latex

To help preserve your garment and make dressing easier, follow these steps:

  • Do not apply lotions, oils, or body creams to any area that will come into contact with the latex. Oils can break down the rubber over time, causing it to become brittle.

  • Apply a quarter-sized amount of silicone dressing aid to your hands and spread it over the areas of your body that will be touching the garment.

  • If you prefer, cornstarch can be used instead of silicone dressing aid.

  • Gently gather and slide the garment onto your body, similar to putting on pantyhose. Never pull or force the latex into place.

  • If you feel resistance, apply a little more dressing aid or cornstarch before continuing.

  • Remove all jewelry before dressing to prevent punctures or tears, and be mindful of long nails or other sharp objects.

Shining Latex

For a high-gloss finish:

  • Apply a small amount of silicone dressing aid or latex polish to your hands or a soft glove.

  • Starting at the back of the garment, wipe from top to bottom using long, even strokes. Multiple passes may be needed to achieve a mirror-like shine.

  • Repeat the process on the front of the garment.

  • Ensure areas that experience friction, such as under the arms or between the thighs, are well lubricated to reduce wear.

Washing Latex

After wearing your garment:

  • Fill a sink, tub, or plastic container with approximately three parts hot water and one part cold water until comfortably warm.

  • Add a small amount of clear, fragrance-free dish soap.

  • Submerge the garment and gently swish it through the water until all polish and residue have been removed.

  • Rinse thoroughly with clean, warm water until no soap remains.

Note: It is normal for latex to appear lighter or darker immediately after washing. The color will return to normal once the garment has dried and returned to room temperature.

If you plan to wear your garment again soon, condition it by adding one capful of Vivishine to clean water for each latex garment and soak briefly according to the product's directions. Conditioning helps maintain the latex's flexibility and longevity.

If you're washing your garment before storing it, continue with the storage instructions below.

Storing Latex

Proper storage will help preserve the life of your garment.

  • Once completely dry, lightly coat the garment with cornstarch or baby powder to prevent the latex from sticking to itself.

  • Hang on a plastic hanger in a cool, dark place, away from sunlight.

  • Alternatively, fold the garment in acid-free tissue paper and store it in a drawer. Long-term folding may create creases, which can be minimized by washing and polishing the garment before wearing.

  • Store different latex colors separately. Darker colors can permanently stain lighter shades.

Important Notes

  • Latex will naturally discolor with exposure to UV light, including sunlight and artificial UV sources.

  • Avoid prolonged contact with metals, including wire or metal hangers, as they can accelerate deterioration.

  • Latex is a natural material and will gradually age over time. Proper care cannot prevent aging completely, but it will significantly extend the life and appearance of your garment.
